How Long Does Information Stay on Your Credit Report

How Long Does Information Stay on Your Credit Report How Long Does Information Stay on Your Credit Report? How Long Does Information Stay on Your Credit Report? While almost all information stays on your report for seven years, most of it will stop affecting your score sometime before that.If you have a bad credit score, you’re going to have a lot of trouble taking out personal loans from a traditional lender like a bank or online loan company. Instead, you may find yourself settling for short-term bad credit loans, like payday loans and cash advances, and risk entering a cycle of high-interest debt. The long-term solution is to improve your credit score, but that’s easier said than done. And before you can improve your score, you first need to first you need to understand why you have bad credit and what you can do to fix it.And in order to understand your credit score, you first need to understand your credit reports because its the information these reports that are leading to your lousy credit score. With good financial behavior, that information will eventually be replaced by bette r infoâ€"and one day it will drop off your score entirely. But how long does information stay on your credit report? And how long will it affect your score? We reached out to the experts for answers. Here’s how your credit report works.  Your credit reports are documents that trace your history as a borrower, and information from these reports is used to create your credit score. A common metaphor to describe the relationship between the two is that credit reports are like a test, while credit scores are like the grade you receive on that test.According to financial coach and author  Karen Ford, credit reports provide “a summary of your credit history and certain other information reported to credit bureaus by your lenders and creditors.” These reports are created and compiled by the three major credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax.Information that’s recorded in credit reports includes bill payments, amounts owed on loans and credit cards, as well as recent hard c redit inquiries. “Bills that will affect your score are credit cards, student loans, mortgage loans, car loans, personal loans,” said Ford. “Bills that won’t affect your score are utilities, rent (if the landlord doesn’t report to the FICO), and medical bills.”“Of course, if you’re horrendously late with any of these, they may decide to utilize a collection agency. If you get turned into a collection agency, this will affect your credit score,” she added. Bankruptcies and other information available on the public record are also included in your report. As not all companies report information to all three credit bureaus, your score can actually vary depending on which report was used to create your score. The most common type of credit score is the FICO score, but there are other types of credit scores as well, including VantageScore, which was created by the bureaus themselves.Your credit reports can also contain incorrect information that could be artificially low ering your score. “One reason to check your credit report is to ensure there isn’t something on there that isn’t accurate,” Ford advised. “There may have been a mistake and a bill unpaid may be on the report, which can adversely affect your credit score.”Luckily, you can access your credit reports for free! As Ford went on to explain, you’re entitled to one free copy of your report from each bureau every twelve months. You can order a copy of your report online by visiting AnnualCreditReport.com, which Ford emphasized was “the only authorized website for free credit reports.”Information stays on your report for 7 to 10 years. If you make a mistake like a late payment, the good news is that it won’t be on your credit report forever. The not-so-good news is that it will be on your report for quite some timeâ€"over half a decade.“Items will stay on your credit report for different periods of time depending on the nature of the information,” said Jacob Dayan,CEO a nd co-founder of  Community Tax, LLC (@communitytaxllc) and  Finance Pal, LLC. “Many common things like late payments and charge-offs will stay on your report for seven years, while more serious incidents like bankruptcy will stay for up to 10 years.”Luckily, not all bankruptcies stay on your report for a full decade. According to Jared Weitz (@jaredweitz), CEO and Founder of United Capital Source Inc, it’s only Chapter 7 bankruptcies that stay on your record for the full 10 years. Chapter 13 bankruptcies, on the other hand, only remain on your report for seven years.(What’s the difference between Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies? Chapter 13 involves a restructuring of debts and a repayment plan, whereas Chapter 7 involves liquidating your assets in order to pay off what you can and then discharging the rest. For more information, check out our blog post on which debts canâ€"and cantâ€"be discharged through bankruptcy.)So if you miss a bill payment on your credit card b ill, you have to wait a full seven years before your credit score can rebound? Not necessarily.“The good news, however, is that these items will carry less weight in your credit score as they become older,” said Dayan. “You can expect your credit score to rebound from the significant hit a bankruptcy will have in around five years.”Dayan also added that you are free to dispute any items on your credit report as long as you have grounds to do so. For information on that, you can read our post on contesting credit report errors. How late was that late payment?Even though a late payment stays on your credit report for seven years, the damage it does to your credit score should fade well before that seven-year mark is up. The difference lies in how late you were in making that payment. The longer that bill sits unpaid, the worse it is for your score.“Negative actions, such as late payment, will stay on your credit record for seven years, but not all actions are equally as damag ing,” explained Weitz. “If you have an isolated event where payment is 30 to 60 days late, this will be less damaging than multiple late payments or a late payment that exceeds 90 days.”To view impact to your credit, think of payments in 30-day increments,” Weitz continued. If you have one payment that is 30 days, or 60 days late, this wont cause lasting damage to your credit. If you are 90 days late your score can be impacted for the entire seven years.“Since the scoring model is based on the prediction of whether you meet the credit obligations in a 90 day period, exceeding this duration will hurt a creditors trust in you, and thusâ€"lowering your score. And if you think that the damage to your score can’t get any worse past 90 days, think again.“If your delinquency exceeds 120 days, your debt is usually sold to a third-party collection agency and will be filed on your credit score, hurting it further and longer,” said Weitz. So if you miss a bill payment, don’t th row up your hands and assume that it’s too late to do anything. The longer that bill sits unpaid, the more your score will suffer. How can you improve your credit? There are five main categories of information that make up your FICO score. Your payment history makes up 35 percent of your total score, more than any other single factorâ€"while your amounts owed/credit utilization comes in a close second at 30 percent. So if you are looking to improve a bad credit score, these are two areas where you want to focus your efforts. In short: You need to pay your bills on time and you need to pay down your debt.To pay down your debt, check out the Debt Snowball and Debt Avalanche strategies. Ford also recommended measuring your credit utilization ratio, as carrying credit card balances that exceed 30 percent of your overall limit can have an additional negative impact on your score.Lastly, Ford pointed out that the length of your credit history and your credit mix also play a part in your sc ore. (In fact, they make up 15 percent and 10 percent of your overall credit score, respectively.) While longer credit histories are preferable, Ford asserted that a short credit history can be great as long as you’ve made your payments on time.Improving your credit score is likely going to take yearsâ€"especially if the main reason you have poor credit is too many late or missed payments. But the sooner you start working to fix your credit, the sooner you’ll see results, even if its still years down the line.Have bad credit? Build an emergency fund.Oddly enough, the kinds of short-term no credit check loans (like payday and title loans) that you get stuck with when you have bad credit don’t affect your scoreâ€"unless they get sent to collections. But even if these loans don’t show up on your credit report, their high rates and lump sum payments can do plenty of damage to your financial wellbeing. Many soft credit check installment loans, on the other hand, do report your pay ments and can affect your score either positively or negatively, depending on whether or not you make your payments on time.Even if you have bad credit, the best way to avoid one of these loans is not to need a loan in the first place. That means having a well-stocked emergency fund built up to cover surprise expenses. their turn, playing with others and so for the, which can create a distance between them and their peers,† says Catterick (p. 114). By teaching students social cues in the classroom, you are better equipping them to make friends and not be isolated from their classmates because they are different or don’t fit in. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome students struggle with their memory and struggle to remember the things they are being taught. Teachers should implement a daily planner for the students in order to help them keep up with their assignments and help them remember what they are to do each day and night for school. Franklin Essay - 1455 Words

Can some man arrive at moral perfection in this life, or is it impossible? Benjamin Franklin was an extremely brilliant and talented individual. He constantly sought ways to improve himself. After he read â€Å"The Spectator† he put in a very dedicated effort to imitate their style of writing because he loved how precise the authors wrote out their thoughts. Franklin was also a relatively religious man or at least believed enough to try to be a morally righteous man so that he would avoid his way into hell. Through these beliefs and virtues Franklin created a plan to achieve moral perfection. Although finding the task somewhat more difficult than he first imagined he stayed with his convictions and deduced thirteen virtues to improve upon and†¦show more content†¦Temperance, for example, was by some confin’d to eating and drinking, while by others it was extended to mean the moderating every other pleasure, appetite, inclination or passion, bodily or mental, ev en to our avarice and ambition.† (BF, p67). This was the problem that Franklin came across in his studies on virtues. This problem also eventually lead him to create a list of what he deemed were the most important virtues that man should strive to improve upon in life to reach moral perfection. The list was much shorter and more specific than anything he read in his studies. The list goes as follows: Temperance (eat not to dullness. Drink not to elation), Silence (speak not but what may benefit others or yourself. Avoid trifling conversation), Order (let all your things have their places. Let each part or your business have its time), Resolution (resolve to perform what you ought. Perform without fail what you resolve), Frugality (make no expense but to do good to others or yourself, waste nothing), Industry (lose no time, be always employed in something useful, cut off all unnecessary actions), Sincerity (use no hurtful deceit, think innocently and justly; and, if you speak; speak accordingly), Justice (wrong none, by doing injuries or omitting the benefits that your duty), Moderation (avoid extremes, forbear resenting injuries so much as you think the deserve), Cleanliness (tolerate no uncleanness in body, clothes or habitation), Tranquility (be notShow MoreRelatedThe Benjamin Franklin1357 Words   |  5 PagesBenjamin Franklin In our American history many figures have left their mark, and are remembered still today. The Perks of Dynamic Stretching Essay Example

The Perks of Dynamic Stretching Essay How to Prepare Your Muscles for Athletic Performance Dynamic Stretching Dynamic stretching consists of functional based exercises which use sport specific movements to prepare the body for movement. Dynamic flexibility has been used successfully by trainers and coaches to increase flexibility and possibly lower the incidence of injury. The main benefit of using dynamic stretching just before a sporting event or fitness routine is that, because dynamic stretches use motions similar to those that an athlete under takes, they effectively simulate a performance experience. For example, doing kicking stretches before soccer or a similar sport will effectively warm up the limbs and body to anticipate specific challenges. The same applies to upper body motions such as circular arm stretching. Plyometrics Plyometrics or plyos for short, are a type of exercise designed to produce fast and powerful movements. They are generally used by athletes to improve performance in sports, especially those that involve speed, quickness and power. 1. Better Performance For those who enjoy sports like track and field, plyometric exercise can greatly benefit running speed. If running isn’t your game, perhaps you would like to punch harder or throw farther. Plyometric exercise helps you achieve any athletic goal. 2. Developing Muscle Power Plyometric exercise gives your legs and muscles an intense exercise which guarantees an increase in muscle potential. 3. Enhancing Your Ability to Burn Calories An increased muscular endurance and ability to burn calories would come to great use for someone hoping to build a weight loss routine. 4. Increasing Your Muscular Endurance We will write a custom essay sample on The Perks of Dynamic Stretching specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on The Perks of Dynamic Stretching specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on The Perks of Dynamic Stretching specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer If you are an athlete and you have a big competition coming up, plyometric exercising will help intensify your energy and increase your stamina just in time for the main event. Since plyometric exercising builds up an explosive amount of intense energy, it could be just the thing for an athlete to have in their training routine. 5. No Extreme Exercising Equipment is Needed Exercise equipment can be expensive, and plyometric exercising doesn’t require any. Anything that is needed could be easily found lying around the house. 6. Easily Calibrated to Suit Anyone’s Needs Plyometric exercising can be as simple as jumping on a trampoline several times a day or even using your old jump rope from back in the day. For someone looking for a little more intense workout, perhaps jumping back and forth from a lower platform to a higher platform would suit their needs. There are many ways to increase the intensity of the exercise by simply increasing the distance or height of each jump. Plyometric exercising is simply utilizing the muscular energy that it takes to jump to your own exercising advantage. Static Stretching Static stretches have been used traditionally by athletes and pretty much everyone who works out and exercises. Whenever people think of warming up before a run, or some other physical activity, they think of stretching. The idea is reinforced by movies and other public media. Studies have shown that performing static stretches before exercise may not be as good for you as originally thought, however. The claim is that this type of stretch can weaken the muscle and make it more prone to injury during the ensuing activity. The muscle has a weaker response and generates less force; this effect can last up to 30 minutes. Despite the negatives just mentioned, there are benefits to this type of stretch. The major benefit is a concentrated focus on increasing flexibility and range of motion in the joints. This can also be achieved with dynamic stretching, but not to the same degree and potential. As far as flexibility goes, dynamic stretching is like a utility knife, whereas static stretching is a surgical blade: the static stretches are just more specialized for increasing flexibility. So the question is ‘when do you perform static stretching? The best times are just after your workout, when youre all warmed up and ready to relax, or any time when youre not going to exercise. I encourage you to incorporate this type of stretch into your routine. Flexible and limber muscles are less prone to injury and improve athletic performance. If you play a competitive and intense sport like football or basketball, this is especially true. Many times while playing these sports, I have had people push, bump, step on, and contort my body in several places and to a degree that if my muscles and tendons were not conditioned to be that flexible, I would have been more injured for sure.

Human Body Essays - Circulatory System, Medicine, Health, Angiology Human Body In the Beginning Within a month of conception, the cluster of cells that will, in the course of time, become a human being begins throbbing, signaling the development of a primitive heart. Scarcely four weeks more pass before an intricate network of veins and arteries the size of a pea forms and subdivides into a tiny replica of the four chambers that will one day make up the adult heart. As the fetus grows, so does its vitally important circulatory system. Although most of the functions of the heart remain dependent upon the mother throughout the entire pregnancy, in the latter stages the organ becomes strong enough to beat on its own. Even so, until birth the baby is cared for and nourished through the mother's placenta. An umbilical cord provides a supply line that furnishes food and oxygen for the baby, and also removes waste. When at last the birthing moment arrives, the baby emerges a separate individual; almost as soon as its first cries are sounded, its pulmonary and circulatory systems undergo a change that renders them self-sufficient. How it Works Technically speaking, the circulatory system is a masterpiece of organic activity. Composed of a network of 60,000 miles of blood vessels and a pintsized, powerhouse pump known as the heart, it services more than 2,000 gallons of blood per day, feeding and replenishing other organs and making life possible. In an adult, the heart is normally an 11 - ounce, fistsized organ that literally pushes blood through arteries, veins and capillaries. It does this by means of muscular contractions sparked by electrical impulses from the heart's pacemaker (sinoatrial node). All of the cells within each of the chambers magically work on cue. First, the right side sends blood to the lungs. There carbon dioxide is removed and oxygen is added, turning the blood a bright red color. Then the blood is pumped to the left side of the heart and sent via the aorta to the rest of the body. To survive, each of the body's approximately 1 billion cells must be nourished. This is the job of the blood, with the heart and vessels acting as facilitators. After depositing the necessary nutrients with each of the cells, the blood returns to the heart, carrying with it waste products it has picked up along the way. These are eliminated through a filtering process in the lungs and kidneys. By now the supply of oxygen within the blood is nearly exhausted, and it is time to restock its supplies and begin the journey again. Incredibly, the whole process has taken just 20 seconds. During the course of an average life, the heart pumps tens of millions of gallons of blood. It is estimated that the amount would easily fill a 24-foot-wide cylinder to a height greater than the Empire State Building. Perhaps more impressively, the circulatory system has the computer-like ability to direct greater and lesser amounts of blood to various areas of the body according to their immediate needs. This explains why athletes often forego eating just prior to a match. During the process of digestion, the gastric organs require more blood to complete their work. As if that weren't enough, the heart is also wired through the nervous system to respond to a large variety of physical and emotional stimuli. Witness the quickening of the heart at the touch of a loved one. What Can Go Wrong Most circulatory problems are caused by a blockage in an artery, which is known as atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. No one knows for sure why this happens, but the prevailing theory states that something causes the protective inner lining of an artery wall to be injured. Once impaired, the collagen in the lining is exposed. That, in turn, attracts platelets and toxic substances from the bloodstream, which enter the artery wall. Eventually, the process leads to a buildup of debris, narrowing of the artery and finally, blockage. Interestingly enough, although the heart has a continual flow of blood streaming in and out of its chambers, it is unable to take the nourishment it needs from this source. Rather, it must rely on its own miniature circulatory system, which branches off from the aorta or main channel. Here tiny but extremely important vessels called coronary arteries provide the means to feed the heart. Like other arteries, they are also subject to blockage. And herein lies a potential and fairly common tragedy, because when coronary arteries cease to function as they should, the heart is deprived of

ACT Essay Format and Templates You Can Use

ACT Essay Format and Templates You Can Use SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Most of the ACT is entirely multiple choice. All you have to worry about when answering the questions is that you’re filling in the correct answer bubble! But then there’s that (optional) Writing section, which requires you to give your answer in words. How are you supposed to write a persuasive essay in 40 minutes? What format should your essay have? Is there an ACT essay template that can guarantee you a high score? We'll answer these questions in this article. feature image credit: homework ritual by woodleywonderworks, used under CC BY 2.0/Cropped from original. What Does Your ACT Essay Need? 5 Key Elements In order to do well on ACT Writing, your essay will need to have the following five elements (not necessarily in this order): 1. An Introduction The first thing the grader will see is your opening paragraph, so you should make a good impression. Don't just jump right into the meat of your essay - introduce your perspective (your thesis statement) and how it relates to the other perspectives given by the essay prompt. You don't necessarily have to start out by writing your introduction (you can always leave a few lines blank at the top of your essay and come back to it after you've written your example paragraphs), but you MUST include it. 2. Your Thesis Statement (should be in your introduction) You must take a perspective on the issue presented in the prompt paragraph and state it clearly. I advise using one of the three perspectives the ACT gives you as your position/perspective; you can come up with your own perspective, but then you have more work to do in the essay (which is not ideal with a time constraint). Your thesis statement (the statement of your perspective) should go in the introduction of your essay. 3. A Discussion of All Three Perspectives In your essay, you must discuss all three perspectives the ACT gives you. Make sure to discuss pros as well as cons for the perspectives you don’t agree with to show you understand the complexities of the issue. 4. Examples or Reasoning to Support Each Point To support your arguments for and against each perspective, you need to draw on reasoning or specific examples. This reasoning should be in the same paragraph as the arguments. For instance, if your argument is about how globalization leads to greater efficiency, you should include your support for this argument in the same paragraph. And it's not enough to just say â€Å"Because freedom† or â€Å"Because Stalin† or something like that as your support and leave it at that. You need to actually explain how your reasoning or examples support your point. 5. Clear Organization Avoid discussing multiple points in one paragraph. Instead, our recommended strategy is to discuss one perspective per paragraph. This organization will not only make it easier for you to stay on track, but will also make it easier for your essay's scorers to follow your reasoning (always a good thing). ACT Essay Outline The 5-paragraph structure might seem boring, but it is a good way to keep your points organized when writing an essay. For the ACT essay, you'll need an introduction, three body paragraphs (one paragraph for each perspective), and a conclusion. You should state your thesis in your introduction and conclusion (using different words in your conclusion so that you're not repeating yourself exactly). So how do you write in this five paragraph structure on the ACT? I'll show you how to put the plan into action with an essay template that can be used for any ACT essay question. First, here's the prompt I'll be using: Public Health and Individual Freedom Most people want to be healthy, and most people want as much freedom as possible to do the things they want. Unfortunately, these two desires sometimes conflict. For example, smoking is prohibited from most public places, which restricts the freedom of some individuals for the sake of the health of others. Likewise, car emissions are regulated in many areas in order to reduce pollution and its health risks to others, which in turn restricts some people’s freedom to drive the vehicles they want. In a society that values both health and freedom, how do we best balance the two? How should we think about conflicts between public health and individual freedom? Read and carefully consider these perspectives. Each suggests a particular way of thinking about the conflict between public health and individual freedom. Perspective One Perspective Two Perspective Three Our society should strive to achieve the greatest good for the greatest number of people. When the freedom of the individual interferes with that principle, freedom must be restricted. Nothing in society is more valuable than freedom. Perhaps physical health is sometimes improved by restricting freedom, but the cost to the health of our free society is far too great to justify it. The right to avoid health risks is a freedom, too. When we allow individual behavior to endanger others, we’ve damaged both freedom and health. Write a unified, coherent essay in which you evaluate multiple perspectives on the conflict between public health and individual freedom. In your essay, be sure to: analyze and evaluate the perspectives given state and develop your own perspective on the issue explain the relationship between your perspective and those given Your perspective may be in full agreement with any of the others, in partial agreement, or wholly different. Whatever the case, support your ideas with logical reasoning and detailed, persuasive examples. Next, I'll break down the ACT essay into its individual parts (introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion) and give examples for what each should look like. Because I'm writing in response to a specific prompt, some of the information may not translate exactly from essay to essay; instead, focus on the structure of the paragraphs. I've bolded key structural words and phrases for you to focus on. Introduction (2-3 sentences) Begin your introduction with a general statement about the topic that draws the reader in; should provide some context for what you’ll be discussing in the essay. Can be omitted if you’re short on time (1-2 sentences). As society progresses into the 21st century, there are some pundits who create a false two-sided fight between individual liberty and complete dependence on the government. Next comes your thesis statement that includes a clear position on the issue. For highest score, you should also mention the other perspectives in contrast to the position you’ve chosen (1 sentence). While individual freedom is essential to society, I believe that the freedom to avoid health risks supersedes freedom of the individual when individual behavior endangers others. Sample ACT essay introduction: As society progresses into the 21st century, there are some pundits who create a false two-sided fight between individual liberty and complete dependence on the government. While individual freedom is essential to society, I believe that the freedom to avoid health risks supersedes freedom of the individual when individual behavior endangers others. Body paragraph 1 (Opposing perspective) (5-7 sentences) Open with a transition to one of the other two perspectives (1 sentence). Perspective Two espouses the view that â€Å"[t]hose who give up freedom in order to gain security deserve neither.† Provide an example of how this perspective is somewhat true and explain why (2-3 sentences). This perspective is true to some extent. For instance, in the Civil Rights movement, schools were integrated at the cost of both the mental well-being of racists, who had to deal with the blow to their world view, and the physical and emotional well-being of those being integrated, who had to deal with the abuse flung upon them by said racists. The freedom to attend any public school was deemed more important to society than the temporary mental, emotional, and in some cases physical health risks caused by that freedom. Provide an example of how this perspective is mostly false when compared to the perspective you agree with and explain why (2-3 sentences). I do not believe, however, the Perspective Two is always a useful way to think about the world, particularly when life and death is at stake. During the Civil Rights movement, parents who were afraid their children might incur physical or even fatal harm from being forced to integrate still had the freedom to homeschool; the same goes for parents who were racist and did not wish their children to interact with children of â€Å"lesser† races. While the government pushed the issue of freedom of all people to attend all public schools, it could not make it mandatory for every child to attend a public school (rather than being homeschooled, or attending private or church school) and risk physical injury or worse. Sample Body Paragraph (Opposing Perspective): Perspective Two espouses the view that â€Å"[t]hose who give up freedom in order to gain security deserve neither.† This perspective is true to some extent. Body paragraph 2 (Opposing perspective) (5-7 sentences) Same as above, except with the other perspective you disagree with/don't entirely agree with. Make sure to use transition words so that the change of topic (from the previous perspective) isn't abrupt or unexpected. To make your example of the Spanish Inquisition less unexpected, make sure to use transitions. Body paragraph 3 (Your perspective) (5-7 sentences) Acknowledge the value of the other two perspectives, but affirm that your perspective is the truest one (1-2 sentences). As can be seen from the examples above, sometimes the greater good means individual freedom is more important than personal health. For the most part, however, allowing individual behavior to harm others damages both freedom and health. Provide one final example of why this perspective is true (3-5 sentences). Some parents worry that vaccines contain toxic chemicals and so have fought for the right to not vaccinate their children against once deadly diseases like measles. By being allowed this freedom, however, these parents are not only putting their children at risk of catching these virulent diseases, but are risking the life of anyone with a compromised immune system who comes into contact with a non-vaccinated child. The results of the anti-vaccination movement can be seen in cases like the recent measles outbreak at Disneyland and the mumps outbreak at a New York City daycare company; both of these outbreaks unfortunately led to fatalities. When the health risks caused by personal freedom reach life-and-death stakes, it is necessary to restrict individual freedom in favor of freedom to avoid preventable health risks. Conclusion (1-2 sentences) Transition into restating your thesis, using different words (1-2 sentences). Sample ACT Essay conclusion: America was built on the idea that there is a fundamental right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – in that order. When individual behavior puts others’ lives at risk, it must be curtailed. Putting Your Essay Together Here is my final ACT essay template (excluding the second body paragraph): As society progresses into the 21st century, there are some pundits who create a false two-sided fight between individual liberty and complete dependence on the government. While individual freedom is essential to society, I believe that the freedom to avoid health risks supersedes freedom of the individual when individual behavior endangers others. [Body paragraph two on the other opposing perspective would go here] As can be seen from the examples above, sometimes the greater good means individual freedom is more important than personal health. When individual behavior puts others’ lives at risk, it must be curtailed. Even though there are some minor grammatical issues in this essay, because they don't significantly affect the readability of my essay they don't matter. There are also some factual inaccuracies in this essay (as far as I know, there haven’t been any reports of a mumps outbreak in NYC daycare facilities), but that doesn’t matter for the ACT as long as the facts are persuasive and make sense in the context of the essay. Adding false information about a mumps outbreak added to the persuasive impact of the essay, so I put it in, whereas I couldn’t figure out a way to work dinosaurs into this essay, and so they were not included.
